The hives at the garden needed new queens, so they were ordered last week. The new queens arrived today, so we went down to the garden and worked on them together.
Stephen almost always works the bees without suiting up. I, however, am not that brave so I’m thankful for the suit.
Our son had come with us to watch, so he took a couple pictures of us on my phone.
I find this so fascinating, to open the hive and watch the bees at work. Here I’m inserting the queen cage between two frames. We will go back Monday or Tuesday to check their progress and to see if the queen has made it out yet.
