This is the first project I’ve tried to make out of the Little Girls, Big Style book. It was very easy to make and went together really quickly. The hardest part about it was deciding on the fabrics to use.

I’ve made peasant dresses before, but it was nice to just trace a pattern this time instead of having to draw and measure and redraw and hope I had the right size like I’ve had to do before.
This was the first time I’d tried to really mix and match fabrics. I think it works ok on this dress, but for the next one I’d really like to head to the quilt store and pick a couple fabrics from the same line. Too bad that doesn’t always work with stash sewing though (which was what this dress was).
This particular dress is a size 3, though Anna’s measurements were closer to a 2. There is plenty of room in it for her to grow, which is what I was hoping for.
I love the book, the way it’s written, and the patterns. I’m excited about sewing more from it!
Hello, Melody! I found your blog through the link on The Modest Mom “linky”. It is a pleasure to discover another like-minded sister who wears long skirts and is committed to dressing modestly. I taught myself to sew four years ago out of frustration with my inability to find skirts that were modest. It is exciting for me to find another sister who uses some of the “big four” patterns (Vogue, McCalls, Simplicty, Butterick). I find that Simplicity has more “modest” patterns (or at least patterns that are easier to modify so they can be called modest) so I find myself using them more and more.
You have a lovely blog. I look forward to visiting again soon. Have a blessed week!
Thank you for stopping by today! It was nice to “meet” you!
It is amazing how clothes and patterns are so immodest lately. It’s so hard to find clothes that fit, look nice, are modest, as well as are affordable. Sewing is just easier. ;O)
Oh, I just love it! What an adorable model, too! So glad you are enjoying the book. Happy sewing!
Thank you! What an honor that you would stop by my blog – I appreciate it! Thank you!
Thank you, Karen!!
You have such a talent for making these cute dresses. She looks adorable in her new dress.
Karen
Her little dress was so pretty! You did a great job! She needs a red, white and blue one!
Hmmmmm…….I have some red and white on my ironing board right now. I’ll have to see if there’s any blue in my stash that would go with it……
Great idea!
Thank you, Susan!
Really cute, Melody! It’s a great little play dress. It’ll be fun to see more dresses from this book!
Thank you, Carrie! The flowers are so FUN to make, and you’re right – cheaper that way too. I love them, and Anna has flowers to match just about every outfits. She likes them so much she asks for a bow or flower almost every day.
Its SO CUTE! On an adorable little girl! I think I will have to make some flowers for my little girl’s hair, they are so adorable on every little girl I have seen them on, and cheaper to make than purchase – good job, on the dress, can’t wait to see more! 🙂
