This is Old Faithful – I’ve been seeing a lot of it lately. It’s an old, all-metal Dressmaker. My mom found it for $5 at a garage sale last summer. The one thing I absolutely love about it is it is a workhorse. It sews through thick layers I could only dream of sewing with my old machine.
It does have some quirks though. The tension is pretty badly messed up, but I haven’t had a chance to get it serviced yet. It works passably for now though, so I’m thankful. But just yesterday, the bobbin winding mechanism just quit. I’m trying to figure out how that happened. In the meantime, I’m considering buying a separate bobbin winder to use until I can have the machine serviced.
Today I’ve been working on my sewing list. The only project I actually completed was a new pajama skirt for myself. Most comfy skirts I’ve made have elastic in the waist, but I decided to try a drawstring this time. Hopefully it will be more comfortable because it’s more adjustable. We’ll see.
I like to use bias tape for drawstrings because it’s so easy. I didn’t have any that matched closely enough, so I used a brown dot instead. You can just barely see it sticking out at the top here. The fabric was a great deal, found on the bargain table at Walmart.
Too funny! That’s good it’s working for you again though.
I had the same thing happen to my machine. The bobin winder just quit working. The other day I need one filled and didn’t have time to get someone to do it for me so I tryed it and it worked believe it or not. I guess it is just moody. LoL
