A few people have asked how this pregnancy is going. So far, it’s going fairly well.
I’m 14 weeks now – and thankful to be in the second trimester. The morning sickness has abated some, but unfortunately, the food aversions and gagging have taken its place with a vengeance. I was really concerned about weight gain at the beginning, but after weighing myself the other day, I don’t think I have to worry for a while. I’ve really struggled to find foods that sound and taste good that are still healthy. Protein has been my biggest aversion.
Despite only gaining a little bit of weight (somewhere between 5 and 8 pounds – not too bad), I’m pretty big already. Many people have asked me if I’m expecting twins, but after 3 ultrasounds, I doubt we’ll see a second baby by now. I guess God just made me to get big early on in my pregnancies.
Stephen and I still haven’t decided whether or not to find out the gender of this baby. I have two more ultrasounds – one next week (at 15.5 weeks) and then the “big one” at 18 or so weeks. We’d love to have the surprise at delivery, but the planning side of me really wants to know. I guess if baby really isn’t modest, we might get a look next week, but I’m not planning on being able to find out. We’ll see.
Here’s a picture that Samuel took yesterday morning of me.
Thanks Heather!
You look great Melody. You know with the second, third etc pregnancies you show faster than the first since the muscles have been stretched…so it’s only natural for people to think you look big for the gestational age. 8o) It’s all good though. I don’t think you look like you are having twins. I know that doesn’t sound great but you understand what I’m trying to say 8o)
Joy – thank you!
Tammy, she’s made of mashed potatoes and toast, huh? That is honestly the biggest relief to hear! ๐ I’m trying to eat well, but, well, sometimes the bread and animal crackers are the only “safe” options. Thank you!!!
I’m glad you’re doing well! ๐ I’m sorry you have the food aversions! The baby book I have for my daughter has a spot to fill in for “cravings and aversions”. I need several pages for all the aversions!!! Protein was the worst for me, but my doctor assured me that the baby would be fine – and she is! Your body takes nutrients for your baby first, but I still worried about proper nutrition. My baby is made of mashed potatoes and toast, but she is very healthy! ๐
You look great and you look so happy!!! Congratulations again and I am so happy for you!

You look beautiful, Melody. Congratulations to you!
