It is 10 am and it’s already 86 degrees outside. It’s supposed to be 97 today and 100 tomorrow. What I don’t understand is why it’s so hot here when it’s not even summer yet.

I normally wear my hair pulled back somehow – the only days I wear my hair down lately seem to be Sundays and Wednesdays for church. But with it being so hot outside, I’ve started to wear my hair up more and more. My hair is waist length, and I cannot imagine wearing it down on a daily basis in the heat.

This is one of my favorite hairstyles. It takes about ten minutes to braid my hair and put it up. I don’t do it this way quite as often – it’s quicker to twist it into a figure-eight (instead of braiding it) and pin it with a couple of hair sticks. But I like how this looks:

The hair sticks are a couple that I made. I don’t wear them as often because the wood sticks don’t work so well when my hair is damp. A plastic set I’ve got works well for that – so I usually wear them every day instead. But they’re so quick and easy. . .I’d love to have a bunch more. Sturdy plastic ones are hard to find though. . .but my wooden ones are pretty. . .

I’ve had a lot of fun looking around the internet for long hair styles. You can see the instructions for the Chinese Braided Bun at the Dressy Tresses site. I do it a little differently than the instructions – adding a little bit of a figure-eight to it – but it’s close enough.

Spread the love
