Monday I learned a valuable lesson.
When your husband wakes up at 3am with an upset stomach, but decides to go to work anyway. . .
When your 3-year-old son decides to be more rambunctious than usual. . .
When your 2-week-old son decides to eat all day long. . .
When your husband calls to say he’s on his way home from work because the upset stomach is really a stomach virus. . .
When the 3-year-old decides not to take a nap. . .
When the baby wants to be held ALL day long. . .
When the husband sleeps all afternoon, and the 3-year-old doesn’t want to be quiet so Daddy can rest. . .
When the husband turns green just thinking about food. . .
That is NOT the day to forget to have a cup of coffee in the morning! I usually only drink one mug a day, but apparently I’m more dependent on the caffeine than I thought. Oh – and eating left over brownies for breakfast is not a good idea either. Yeah, let’s start the day with too much sugar, no caffeine, a sick husband, and a rowdy boy.
Adding a pounding tension headache to that mix does not make for a good day.
Next time I consider skipping the coffee so the smell doesn’t nauseate my husband – I’ll wait ’til he leaves for work, and then I’ll brew a pot of extra-strong coffee, just in case!
Boy, was I ever glad to go to bed THAT night!
Thanks, Sweetpeas. Those have been really interesting to read!
http://www.mobywrap.com is an inexpensive one that has good directions online. http://www.gypsymama.com has prettier ones. My favorite are at http://www.mom-and-me-creations.com/ (the hot mama wrap) but she’s not stocking much, if at all right now. OR since it’s winter, go to the fabric store buy 6 yards of polar fleece, cut it in half (so it’s 30″ wide instead of 60″ wide) and you’ve got yourself a nice winter stretchy wrap. I didn’t have wraps when my girls were babies, but I had fleece pouches and on all but the coldest days for running in & out of stores I’d just pop them in the pouches, put hats on their heads & not bother w/ coats, wrap would work even better that way since it covers more of the baby).
Stretchy wrap? I’ve never heard of that before. I do have two slings and absolutely love them. But the stretchy wrap – that sounds intriguing. Thanks for mentioning it!
Ugh! Glad it was a short-lived bug at least. I’ll put my plug in for a good sling or other carrier, that way you can at least nurse the baby as needed while playing with toddler or taking care of dh, or whatever. Stretchy wrap is my first choice for hands-free nursing a newborn.
Thanks. It looks like it was just a 24 hr thing, and so far, no signs of the rest of us getting it.
why is it when it rains it pours? Hope everyone is feeling better
