What was it like?
What was it like when you breathed your last breath
and then breathed in the sweet, fresh, pure air of Heaven?
What was it like when you laid down this body
and stepped into your new, glorious one?
What was it like to hear the noise of this world fade away
and then hear the choir of angels sing?
What was it like to walk through death
and meet face-to-face the Giver of Life?
What was it like to lay down your pain
and look into the face of the Great Physician?
We’re here, and you’ve gone,
Stepped over the threshold of death
To be embraced by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords,
What is it like?
We miss you so already
But you’re Home now,
Free from pain,
Free from worry,
Say hello to Heaven for me, would you?

Sweet Melody, many hugs as you grieve. Beautiful words….. Reminds me of losing my own Grandma.
Melody, this was beautiful! I know that you’re going through a rough time right now, but this poem really was a balm to my own soul, having lost a mother and two grandmothers. It really spoke to my heart, and let me imagine them each walking into the gates of Heaven – so calming! Thank you for posting it – praying for you!
