How do you get it into the correct shape for hamburger and hot dog buns? I can pretty much figure out the hamburger part, but what about the hot dog? I know the answer is probably so simple I’ll want to smack myself, but I just can’t figure it out. Can you enlighten me?
No problem! I should have put the instructions in there. Sorry! I figure if you were wondering, than maybe someone else is too – so I’ll just put the instructions here, ok?
For the hamburger buns, I just roll the dough into balls that are a little bit smaller than my palm. Then I flatten them and place on a cookie sheet to rise. If I remember right, one batch makes 10 to 12 buns, depending on how big you get them.
To make the hot dog buns, I take pieces of dough that are a little closer to the size of my palm, and then I just roll them into “snakes†(think school days and playdoh, lol). I make them about 6 to 8 inches long, and an inch or so across. They rise up nicely – and I’m often guilty of making HUGE hot dog buns – more the size of big ‘ole bratwurst or bigger. But they are so good! I think we get about eight – maybe a couple more – but I don’t think I’ve ever counted.
Hope that helps!
