They arrived!

The phone rang at 6:15 this morning. “This is the post office. Please come get your chickens!” :laugh_tb:

So Stephen hopped in the van and went and got them before he had to leave for work. We ordered 25, had a certificate for 5 free, and they sent 5 more to ensure 100% live arrival. 35 chicks – in a little 1.5 x 2 box. They sure are cute! Only one of them didn’t make it. She was alive when she got here, but she was trampled quite a bit, and by the time I got home from my appointment this morning she had died. But from looking at her, we didn’t think she’d make it anyways.

I’ll try to post pictures of them when I get them off the camera. The babies are soooo cute!

Little man just stands there and looks at them. He doesn’t know WHAT to think. I held one up to him, and he just patted it and giggled. It was funny.

The coop is progressing too. Stephen almost got the shingles finished the other day, but he ran out of nails. He got more yesterday, so I’m guessing he’ll be able to finish the roof tonight.

Spread the love

  1. Hey girl! I miss the old handwritten letters too, but I’ve discovered I’m terrible at remembering to write and send them. And now, I type so much faster than I can write, that I can send an email in a fraction of the time it would take me to write it by hand.

    Thanks for visiting!

  2. I am enjoying reading your little stories. Its almost like our old letter writing back in the day! 🙂 I kinda miss those old hand written letters. Also i see a link on here to Freecycle, we do that up here to. I just put my first post up for moving boxes hehe 🙂 Have a Great day Mel!
